CHD Awareness is a group of families that had been affected by CHD in any way, unfortunately not every baby diagnosed with any form of CHD survive their first year. Is the #1 cause of death on babies under 1 year of age. Twice the number of death causes by all forms of pediatric cancers together.

The problem is that we are not warned and there are ways to prevent the death of many childres with a simple ecocardiogram. There is a petition to make this procedure a routine in your pre-natal check ups. This will not cure the defects but will keep the doctors aware of the condition giving them the chance to safe the baby's life at birth. This procedure could safe the life of Amanda, but her mother, Alexandra, and not even their doctors were aware of the conditions until it was to late. Alexandra, the mother, had the chance to have her daughter alive in her hands once, after they took it away for the surgery she were not able to hold her baby again in her arms alive. Amanda died in May 28th 2008.
