When a marriage is in a process of restoration in its relation, having or not having God as it’s foundation, it’s very painful. But thanks we must give to God because He will always rises us, as our spouses, through these processes.
As soon as my husband and I lived a dysfunctional relation, we found God in the middle of this desert in which He restored us. I remember the words of my Pastor Joed, who said: “if you think that the process was painful, you are mistaken… now is when the painful part comes”.
It sounds impossible, how the difficult part will come now if we have Christ this time in our hearts? But my Pastor was not mistaken. The devil never leaves the battle. Can’t we all see that he is the father of all lies? … he bombed us with memories, put people in our way to make us think that we would not achieve it. But we decided to believe God who makes us more than conquerors.
If we wouldn’t look to Christ at any moment, everything would be in vain, because we would not persist in his cover and failure would reach us once again. The worldly temptations are stronger than us when we are not in Christ, because they attack our desires, what we want or think we need. But even though we have God, we cannot leave all the work to Him, once He restores us, we must make the most difficult and important decision, take care and conserve our relationship as a couple. We must decide in favor of our love.
How can we achieve it? … pleading in prayers every day, looking for the presence of God, attending the services, surrendering our relation to God and not to look back.
God is solely able to change our character and He will makes us the perfect complement for our spouses.
God bless you all.
