Now the Jordan is at flood stage all during harvest. Yet as soon as the priests who carried the ark reached the Jordan and their feet touched the water's edge, the water from upstream stopped flowing. It piled up in a heap a great distance away... So the people crossed over opposite Jericho.
Joshua 3:15-16 (fragmented NVI)
To cross a furious or overflowed river is something that is not recommended to anybody.
Compare to the river current's force, our forces are weak and we would be defenseless in the middle of the torrent of waters, we can be dragged and killed.
If we analyzed the consequences fight against the flow: weakness, to be defenseless, to be dragged or even perishing in the attempt, we can understand why the strong flows is used as a comparison with the difficult situations that we all have to face from time to time, come face to face with the forces of the vigorous river. That's the way we used to feel in the middle of this situations.
The river separated the Israelites from the Lord's promise land, the Jordan River. At that time the same was overflowed, with strong flowing. In order to gain their victory after the captivity and the desert they had to cross this river. God promised to make something wonderful, to stop the currents of the waters so that they could cross it over dry land, first thing was they had to trust. The currents would pause at the moment that the priests who carried the Ark of the Pact insert their feet in water. Great step of faith. Don't you think? They did thus it without worrying how the river looks; overflowed, furious, angry; they put the feet and God formed a column with the waters that allowed them to cross in dry to the awaited Land.
Perhaps at this moment we are seeing a strong roaring river, overflowed waters, forces that would be impossible for us to face. Alone we can't but with God on our side the Victory is safe. We must put our feet in the waters, that means taking a leap of faith. Believing in the faithfulness and the presence of God. It is not time for us to stop or turn around. He has promised to be with us every day and if He promised He will fulfills.
Let's cross together the Jordan because if God is with us, who's against us?
Blessings today and always;
